PROBLEM
Last year, Plainfield Community Consolidated School District #202 served more than 26,000 students, across 30 schools in a 64-square mile area in the southwest Chicago suburbs. Student achievement has been rising since the early 2000s and educators continue to point to the increasing use of technology and digital learning tools as a driver of the district’s progress. Its recent Technology Trailblazers initiative, however, has become one of the ‘202 In Focus’ topics that underscored a great need for functional AV on campus. In many cases, teachers
were dragging out old speakers, microphones and projectors when communicating with large groups, putting on presentations or hosting assemblies. Equipment was very unreliable, with
some schools working perfectly and others only sometimes or not at all — and it wasn’t clear which of the 30 Prek-12 schools had the greatest need.
SOLUTION
Encompass Connect conducted detailed internal audits of each system, examining the hardware, existing infrastructure and cabling, and provided comprehensive reports for every campus. It found some schools with 15+ year-old technology that needed to be replaced and others with equipment that simply needed repair, and signed on to complete all projects to support District #202 for its current and evolving needs with significant cost-savings.
Working closely with administration, Encompass Connect identified the most critical issues to address first. It designed a program schedule to complete enhancements quickly within a strict budget.
Sound systems were replaced with highly-reliable hardware that ensure clear, crisp messages are delivered with the best possible audio quality, along with projectors that can now display information with details needed for lessons and visual presentations in gyms, auditoriums, classrooms and multipurpose spaces.
RESULT
All told, performance and reliability was the result with easy-to-use equipment that is compatible with technology updates and will function for years to come.
